Description:
This is a great trip for beginner bikerafters. The river is generally very mellow in summer and popular with all kinds of floaters. The Harper Bridge access has plenty of street parking, but does get busy during the summer. The Canoe takeout has more limited parking, but there are other dispersed forest parking options a short distance away from the river landing. The suggested bike route has about 1.5mi of unpaved riding so gravel bikes or MTB is advised. The remainder of the ride is almost entirely on paved bike path. There are places to lock a bike at either end if wanting to do a Lock-N-Paddle/Paddle-N-Unlock; however, due to the mellow nature of the river it’s great for a One-Stop Adventure trip.
Note: Downstream of the Harper Bridge the Sunriver side of the river does not allow river access other than the Sunriver Marina (only open to Sunriver Members) and further downstream of Sunriver properties at Canoe Takeout on USFS land.
PRO Tip: If you want to get off the pavement on singletrack and forest roads it’s possible to ride on trails/roads on the west side of the river. See Trailforks for options.
